The first Georgia Elvis Festival was held in March of 2013. The annual event is a four-day festival celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley through live performances of his music. It is sanctioned by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc the company which controls the estate of Elvis Presley and operates Graceland. The festival features two headline shows, on Friday and Saturday and is proceeded by a free opening ceremony on Thursday night, held in Mary Ross Park.
The weekend also features a three-day preliminary to the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest which is held in Memphis during Elvis Week each August. Each year between thirty and forty Elvis Tribute Artists (ETAs) enter for the chance to win over $5,000 in cash and the chance to represent the Georgia Elvis Festival in the finals.
A Sunday morning Elvis Gospel music event, Elvis performers at Brunswick’s pocket parks during dinner time, and late night After Hours parties round out the weekends events.
Throughout the festival, funds are raised to help support Georgia Special Olympics.
